We
believe that God is the all powerful, all knowing, Creator of the
Universe. He is the one true God. God is the Spirit, and He existed
before time and space and transcends the limits of both. Being the
moral ruler of the universe, God is Holy and Righteous. He never
changes. He is today, as He was yesterday, and as He will be tomorrow.
We believe God is three persons but one God. He is the Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit.
God created
humankind, in His own image and for a special purpose. This purpose was
for his glorification and to share a personal relationship with His
human creation. God provides for all the needs of humankind including
food, shelter, pleasure, and companionship. God is omniscient and knows
what is best, therefore, He gave the first humans rules to live by.
Created by
God, free moral agents, and tempted by Satan, the first humans chose to
disobey God. This disobedience brought sin into the world.
Sin and evil are of the world, but not of God. Sin or the failure
to obey the laws of God continues to plague the human race and will do
so until Jesus returns to claim the world as His own, and Satan is
defeated for the final time. All time is moving towards this end.
We believe that
Jesus Christ, the God-Man, is the son of God who became flesh and dwelt
among us. He is the supreme revelation of God. Jesus is the redemptive
work of God in the New Testament. He is the evidence of God’s grace and
love for sinful humans. Jesus is the way to God for sinful humans.
Without the atoning work of Jesus on the cross, sinful humans would
continue to be lost in sin and separated from God. The good news for
sinful man is that Jesus not only died on the cross for our sins, but He
conquered death through His resurrection.
The Holy Spirit is
the third Person in the Trinity. He is the power by which the sinner’s
heart is convicted unto repentance through faith. This repentance
through faith by the power of the Holy Spirit leads to conversion and
salvation.
We believe the
Bible is the divinely inspired record of God’s redemptive work in the
world on behalf of humankind. The Bible is the inerrant Word of God.
God and Christ speak to us today through the Scriptures; The Bible is
the authority for all principles and practices of faith for the
Christian.
We believe that
Jesus conquered death and then returned to his father. He will return
for His Church in a time known only by God. Until His return, the
church is to go unto all the world, teaching, preaching, and baptizing,
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, so
that others might share in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. |
